Ex-Liverpool midfielder Momo Sissoko backs new signing Luis Diaz to make an impact in England quickly and has compared him to former Anfield star Luis Garcia. Diaz has also been tipped to promptly replace Sadio Mane as Jurgen Klopp’s preferred left-winger, ending a six-year-long relationship.
On Monday, Liverpool beat Tottenham Hotspur to the signing of Diaz in a deal worth £37million, potentially rising to £49m.
The 25-year-old has signed a five-and-a-half-year contract at Liverpool after grabbing headlines at FC Porto this season.
Diaz registered 14 goals and four assists in 18 Primeira Liga appearances this term, unsurprisingly catching the eye of heavyweight suitors.
And many now eagerly await his Reds debut, none more so than Sissoko, who made 81 appearances for the club from 2005 to 2007.

Sissoko believes Liverpool fans will quickly fall in love with Diaz and he has compared the Colombian winger to Garcia.
He told AS: “He is a very good signing, I have seen Luis Díaz play with Porto, and I liked him a lot. He is a very talented player, he is young, and Liverpool needed a player with his conditions.
“Luis is going to enter the hearts of the fans very quickly. He is a player who has quality and has a goal. If he shows his quality from the start, the Liverpool fans are going to love him.
“He [Luis Diaz] has the same quality as Luis Garcia, both with a lot of quality on the wing. Luis Diaz has a lot of talent and a lot of quality. In Liverpool, with a coach like Klopp, he will adapt very quickly and show all his talent.”
Diaz has also been tipped to replace Mane as first-choice left-winger before too long, with Klopp ‘the perfect coach for him’.
“Jurgen Klopp is going to make Diaz take another step towards being a great player,” Sissoko continued.
“Klopp is a perfect coach for him because he trusts his players, and that is going to help him adapt and do things well.
“If Jurgen Klopp sees that Luis Diaz is fine, he will put him in from the first game. Little by little, he will enter the main team.”
With Mane now 29, Diaz represents an ideal long-term replacement for the Senegal international.
But it remains to be seen how quickly he can earn Klopp’s trust and become a regular starter in his side.
