Liverpool have become the latest club to show an interest in Mikkel Damsgaard with scouts reportedly spotted at Sampdoria’s match against AC Milan on Monday night. Damsgaard became a household name at Euro 2020 as he played a huge role in helping Denmark reach the semi-finals.
He rose to the big occasion as well, scoring a magnificent free-kick to give Denmark a 1-0 lead over England in the Euro 2020 clash.
That was his second of the tournament after another brilliant strike against Russia in the group stages.
His performances at the major championships led to strong speculation linking him with a move away from Sampdoria.
Tottenham were reportedly showing strong interest with Sampdoria’s coach Roberto D’Aversa admitting earlier this month the Italian club would struggle to keep hold of their talented midfielder.

“I’d love to work with him, but I know I might lose him,” he said.
“What I can say is that it would do him good to play continuously in the Italian league.
“Last year he played 24 games, but not always from the start.
“If he could stay, I am convinced that his value would eventually increase.”
But now Liverpool have seemingly shown an interest in signing the Euro 2020 star.
According to Italian outlet Il Secolo XIX, Liverpool scouts were spotted in the stands at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Monday night with a keen interest on Damsgaard.
The 21-year-old played the full 90 minutes as Sampdoria fell to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of AC Milan.
It is claimed that Liverpool ‘like’ Damsgaard, hinting at a potential move in the future.
The report adds the Reds are not currently pushing to make an approach though as they’re waiting to see what other clubs will do.
The young midfielder only joined Sampdoria 12 months ago for £6million from Danish side Nordsjalland.
Damsgaard is currently contracted at the Italian club until 2024 and it’s been reported they would want a bid in the region of £34m to consider selling.
