Liverpool set to submit ‘new bid’ for Thiago after Bayern star spoke to Jurgen Klopp

Bayern Munich are reportedly expected Liverpool to submit a new bid for Thiago Alcantara in the near future, according to reports. The claims would suggest the Reds have already lodged an offer for the midfielder who is available for just £25million this summer.

Liverpool have been closely linked with a move for the Champions League winner in the German press.

It started after there were rumours in the Bayern dressing room that Thiago wanted to move to Anfield.

He is said to have offered his house to his team-mates as he looks to embark on a new adventure.

Thiago has just one year remaining on his current deal but has told Bayern he will not be penning a new contract.

Therefore, the Bundesliga champions wish to cash in to avoid losing a player of his value on a free transfer.

They initially set the asking price at £31m but that has since been slashed to £25m.

Liverpool have been tight-lipped on a potential move for Thiago but now it appears they are braced to make a bid.

Transfer expert Romano tweeted: “Liverpool are still working to get Thiago Alcantara. Bayern are now convinced they’re gonna receive a new bid from #LFC soon.

Meanwhile, RMC Sport’s Mohamed Bouhafsi claims Thiago only wants Liverpool, something that has been discussed between the player and Klopp.

Thiago is said to be waiting on the green-light to pack his bags for England and start a new challenge.

Bayern boss Hansi Flick has conceded his midfield maestro is on his way out.

“I assume he will leave,” Flick told Bild.

“We were completely focused on the Champions League, and his contract wasn’t an issue in the past few weeks. We haven’t had another conversation now, but I think his decision has been made.”

Thiago’s arrival could hinge on the future of Gini Wijnaldum, who has one year remaining on his Liverpool contract.

The Dutchman is wanted to his former Holland boss Ronald Koeman at Barcelona.

Spanish reports claim he is willing to sign a three-year deal at the club with talks set to begin over a deal worth between £13m and £18m.
