Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp faces a rather precarious transfer window.
The Reds opened a huge gap on the chasing pack in the Premier League last season as they totted up 99 points.
That phenomenal points total added to 96 from the 2018/19 campaign to give Klopp very few areas to improve upon in the transfer market.
To some extent, that proves a rare opportunity for the Reds to take stock and go again next season with a similar side. Financial restrictions dictate that it is very hard, if not impossible, to improve on the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah.
Nevertheless, Klopp will be eager to keep his side fresh ahead of a busy 2020/21 schedule, and added depth should be a target in one or two areas.
Here are the latest Liverpool transfer rumours.
Liverpool complete first summer signing
Olympiacos defender Kostas Tsimikas has completed his £11.75million move to Liverpool.
The left-back, who featured against Wolves in the Europa League earlier this month, has been signed as much-needed cover for Andy Robertson.
Liverpool moved for the Greece international having walked away from their pursuit of Norwich's Jamal Lewis after the Canaries set their asking price at double the initial £10million offer the Reds made to the relegated Premier League club.
Manager Jurgen Klopp said: "We have watched Kostas for a long time.
"He is a very good footballer with an attitude to win and to compete, and I really like his mentality. It fits perfectly with the mood and the desire we have in our dressing room already."
Rivals join race for Reds target Sarr
Liverpool are reportedly interested in acquiring the services of Watford winger Ismaila Sarr in this summer’s transfer window.
The 22-year-old was relegated to the Championship with the Hornets last season but interest from several high-profile sides could see him playing in the top flight come September.
Tottenham and Manchester United are also tracking the winger’s situation, which could provide stiff competition for Liverpool.
If the Reds are to pursue a move for Sarr, it could heavily depend on possible outgoings being used to finance the move.
Brooks interest could spell end for Shaqiri
Mirror Football's Top Stories
Liverpool's interest in Bournemouth wideman David Brooks could bring Xherdan Shaqiri's time at Anfield to an end.
The Daily Star cite reports of the Wales international attracting interest from the Premier League champions after the Cherries suffering relegation from the Premier League.
Given the departure of Adam Lallana to Brighton and the possible exit of Xherdan Shaqiri, Brooks is believed to be on the club’s shortlist of players who can add width and depth in attacking areas.
Brooks spent the majority of the 2019/20 season recovering from a long-term injury but increased interest from Premier League clubs could make it hard for the Cherries to keep him this summer.
