Liverpool are keen to reward Fabinho, one of their most consistent performers, with a new deal after the Brazilian's excellent start to the campaign.
The midfielder moved to Anfield from Monaco for an initial fee of £39million in 2018 and has established himself as a vital member of the first team.
Meanwhile, teenage sensation Harvey Elliott is continuing to excel while on loan at Blackburn Rovers – so much so that assistant manager Pep Lijnders admits the Reds "really miss" him.
Finally, Jurgen Klopp opened up on how Philippe Coutinho still has a strong affection for Liverpool despite his move away from the club nearly three years ago.
Here is Monday's Liverpool transfer news round-up.
Reds to offer Fabinho new deal
Fabinho has over two-and-a-half years remaining on his current contract but Liverpool are keen to offer him a new deal.
That's according to the Sunday Times , which adds Fabinho will receive improved terms in a bid to ward off interest in the versatile Brazilian.
A natural midfielder, the 27-year-old has excelled in a number of roles since moving to Anfield from Monaco in 2018.
He has spent much of this season playing in central defence due to injuries suffered by Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez.
Liverpool "miss" on-loan Harvey Elliott
Should Liverpool consider recalling Harvey Elliott from his loan? Have your say here.
Liverpool assistant manager Pep Lijnders admits he is "missing" Harvey Elliott as the young winger continues to shine on loan for Blackburn Rovers.
Elliott, 17, has grabbed three goals and four assists for the Championship club and Lijnders hopes to be working with the prodigious talent again soon.
Lijnders told Liverpool's official website : "I miss him! I would have loved to continue working with him, but it’s a good decision of course because he can play many games and he can show what he’s really about.
"I think he’s doing that, he’s impressing everyone. For us and for me, it’s not a surprise – if that’s here, there or wherever, he will surprise and show what he can bring.
"It says a lot that he didn’t need a lot of time to adapt because he has this overview, this technical level, this maturity for his age is unbelievable.
"At the same time, the constant threat of the final pass and the dribble and the shot. We miss him, to be honest, we really miss him. We wish he were here with us."
Coutinho "still loves Liverpool"
Barcelona star Philippe Coutinho "still loves" Liverpool, according to Jurgen Klopp, who outlined the role the midfielder played in Fabinho's transfer to Anfield in 2018.
Coutinho moved to Camp Nou in a £142million deal in January 2018 but played a key part in convincing his compatriot to join the Reds only a few months later.
Recalling Fabinho's arrival on Merseyside, the Liverpool boss said: "We just said what we had to say, what we think and what he will be for us and stuff like this.
"I think the best help was probably Bobby [Firmino] as they knew each other from the national team and for sure what Phil said about Liverpool because he loved and still loves Liverpool, so these kinds of things helped."
Coutinho was linked with a return to Liverpool last summer, along with a number of other Premier League clubs, but ultimately stayed put at Barcelona.
