Liverpool transfer round-up – Konate update, Klopp could sanction star’s exit

There is finally reason for a sense of renewed optimism at Liverpool after the 4-2 victory over Manchester United on Thursday evening.

Jurgen Klopp's side have put themselves in a promising position for Champions League qualification after a disastrous defence of their Premier League title where they looked in danger of missing out on European competition entirely.

But the win over United means the Anfield club will almost certainly finish in the top four if they secure victories in their last three games against West Brom, Burnley and Crystal Palace.

Champions League football would give Klopp a platform to improve his squad in the hope that this season can simply be dismissed as an aberration.

The added financial incentive could also bolster the club's transfer budget ahead of a critical summer window.

Who could the Reds target this summer? Here's Sunday's Liverpool transfer round-up with all the latest developments…

Liverpool 'told they can sign' Florian Neuhaus

Liverpool have reportedly been told they can sign Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Florian Neuhaus this summer.

The German international, 24, has been impressing in the Bundesliga this term and could bolster Klopp's options in the middle of the park.

And according to SportBILD, a move for Neuhaus is 'highly conceivable' and the player has an exit clause of €40m.

The report adds that Neuhaus would only be prepared to leave Gladbach for a move to Anfield.

Promising Konate update

Liverpool appear to have been given another boost in their reported pursuit of RB Leipzig defender Ibrahim Konate.

Leipzig chief Oliver Mintzlaff has admitted his club are not in the drivers seat to keep their star defender.

"We’ll see what happens. I spoke to him this week. No decision has been made yet,” he told Sky Germany.

“There is an exit clause. That’s why we don’t sit in the driver’s seat. He is a player we want to keep.”

Konate, 21, is seen as one of Europe's most promising young defenders and could be a huge coup should Liverpool sign him this summer.

Klopp could part with expensive signing

Jurgen Klopp would reportedly give the green light to the sale of Naby Keita this summer.

That's according to Spanish outlet, who claim the 26-year-old is attracting interest from La Liga side Atletico Madrid.

Keita is Klopp's third most expensive signing as Liverpool boss behind only Virgil Van Dijk and Alisson, but has never truly settled at Anfield.

The midfielder has never managed to cement as a first-team regular, making just seven Premier League starts this season.
