Liverpool welcome Ajax to Anfield in the Champions League group stage tonight as Jurgen Klopp’s hosts look to secure their spot in the knockout stages of the competition.
The Reds lead Group D with nine points from four games, having surprisingly suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to Atalanta last time out in the tournament. Ajax are second in the group on seven points and lost 1-0 to Liverpool in October in the reverse fixture of this evening’s meeting.
A win or draw here would guarantee Klopp’s players a place in the last 16, the round in which they were eliminated by Atletico Madrid last season – a year after they lifted the trophy. Follow live updates from the Champions League game below.

The Reds were undone by a penalty decision at the weekend going against them, drawing 1-1 with Brighton after two of their own strikes were ruled out for offside.
Ajax had an easier time of things against FC Emmen, winning 5-0 in the Eredivisie.
Liverpool remain top after four games, but they are only two points ahead of Atalanta and Ajax. A win for the Dutch side tonight, then, puts them in a great position to progress – but the Reds will have a last-16 spot wrapped up with a point or better tonight.
For Ajax, Mohammed Kudus is out injured; David Neres gets the nod ahead of Zakaria Labyad and Lassina Traore.
Ajax XI: Onana; Mazraoui, Schuurs, Alvarez, Tagliafico; Blind, Gravenberch, Klaassen; Anthony, Neres, Tadic.
No Alisson tonight for the Reds as he has a “tight leg muscle”, while Jordan Henderson returns to the XI. Caoimhin Kelleher starts in goal ahead of Adrian.
Liverpool XI: Kelleher; N. Williams, Matip, Fabinho, Robertson; Henderson, Wijnaldum, Jones; Mane, Salah, Jota.
