Liverpool are being linked with moves for Ibrahima Konate and Aaron Ramsey as part of a potential squad revamp at Anfield this summer.
Jurgen Klopp will be desperate to regain the Premier League title next season, having suffered a nightmare defence of their crown in the 2020/21 campaign.
A dreadful run of six straight defeats at Anfield has blown the Reds out of this year’s title race with nine games still to play, and Champions League qualification is not even a guarantee for them down in seventh.
As a result, reports suggest Liverpool chiefs are already eyeing up potential recruits ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Athletic claim RB Leipzig centre-back Konate is at the top of their wish list, with Klopp keen to ease pressure on duo Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez next season.
Van Dijk and Gomez both suffered serious knee injuries earlier in the campaign, leaving the Premier League champions depleted of options in defence.
Ozan Kabak arrived on loan from Schalke in January and could join permanently for £18million in the summer, but Liverpool will be desperate to avoid a repeat of this season’s defensive crisis.
They have therefore also set their sights on Konate and made ‘significant progress’ in pursuit of the 21-year-old, who has a £34million release clause in his current contract.

Yet, the Reds are not only set to add reinforcements in defence, as Georginio Wijnaldum’s expected departure upon the expiry of his contract on June 30 means Klopp will leave Klopp with a gap in his midfield.
And according to Italian outlet CalcioMercato, Juventus outcast Ramsey has emerged as a potential option for them this summer.
Ramsey, who made over 350 appearances in an 11-year spell at Arsenal, has only made 61 appearances over two seasons at Juve and is said to be keen on joining Liverpool at the end of the season.
If Liverpool get their hands on both men, Klopp could field an impressive starting XI in 2021/22.
Alisson is certain to remain his No.1 in between the sticks, while Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson should keep their places at right and left-back.
Konate could come in and partner Van Dijk at the heart of the Liverpool defence once the latter has returned to full fitness.

As for Ramsey, he could sit alongside Fabinho and captain Jordan Henderson in the middle of the park.
Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane are likely to continue their attacking partnership, although the former has been linked with a move away from Anfield in recent months.
