Luis Diaz is said to be relaxed over his potential move to Tottenham because he knows other Premier League clubs are also interested in his services and that a move to England could materialise this summer if Spurs fail to satisfy Porto’s valuation, according to reports in Portugal. The north London club’s unproductive January transfer window finally exploded into life on Tuesday as Tottenham entered the negotiating table for both Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat and Diaz, while technical director Fabio Paratici also continues work on signing Adama Traore from Wolves.

Spurs are understood to have bid in the region of £37.5million for Diaz plus up to £8m in add-ons. Porto, however, are not believed to be willing to accept.

Instead, the Portuguese giants have cited that Diaz has a release clause worth close to £67m and with other teams from across Europe seemingly interested, they are willing to bide their time over a sale.

That said, Porto are understood to be struggling to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations, meaning there is a small window of opportunity for Tottenham to strike a deal.

However, according to Portuguese newspaper Record, Diaz is not thought to be pushing to move to Tottenham as of yet.

The report states that the Colombian international is instead prepared to wait to see what other offers arrive this summer given that a series of other clubs are thought to be interested.

Liverpool and Chelsea are among those to have been linked with Diaz in recent months.

Furthermore, Tottenham would also have to overcome another big hurdle in the sense that Diaz is currently away in South America on international duty.

Colombia take on Peru (28th) and Argentina (1st Feb) as part of their World Cup qualification campaign for Qatar 2022.

It means Diaz will not be back in Europe until after the transfer window closes.

Once again, it leaves Tottenham with plenty of work to do if they are to get a deal over the line.

Spurs could potentially ask the Colombian national team doctors to conduct a medical if they were able to reach an agreement with Porto.

Fellow target Amrabat is also away with his country Morocco at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Talks are now advanced with Fiorentina over a deal that would see the midfielder move to north London on an initial loan.

The agreement is also set to include an option to buy.

Up to six stars – Tanguy Ndombele, Bryan Gil, Dele Alli, Giovani Lo Celso, Matt Doherty and Joe Rodon – could leave Spurs (permanently or on loan) before the transfer deadline.
