Luis Suarez to join Juventus after Barcelona hold meeting to agree transfer fee

Luis Suarez looks set to join Juventus this window after Barcelona held a meeting over his transfer fee.

The Catalan club are undergoing a summer revamp after sacking Quique Setien and putting Ronald Koeman in charge.

Keeping hold of Lionel Messi has been imperative but after he decided to stay, Barca are now pursuing their transfer plans.

One of them includes letting go of his best mate, Suarez, who has been attracting attention from Juventus.

The Uruguay international was told by Koeman that he was no longer required.

The Dutchman has his own plans on who he wants to lead the line, with Lyon star Memphis Depay heavily linked.

And Juve are close to agreeing a fee for Suarez, with Goal reporting that both parties are holding a meeting over a fee.

Furthermore, they report that Suarez has agreed a three-year contract with the Serie A champions.

The ex- Liverpool star will see his contract expire next summer, meaning his value has surely plummeted.

Juventus are also in the market for a striker after Gonzalo Higuain was released.

Andrea Pirlo is keen on some experience up top and despite Suarez being 33, he has still looked a force in front of goal.

He scored 21 goals in all competitions, though Barca failed to win any silverware last season.

They fell away in La Liga as Real Madrid claimed the league title and were knocked out of the Champions League by eventual winners Bayern Munich.

That match saw Los Cules utterly embarrassed after being thrashed 8-2 by the Bavarian giants.
