Man City have two ‘priority’ transfer targets including ace Jurgen Klopp likes
Man City: Guardiola says 'almost impossible' to repeat treble
Manchester City are reportedly keen on bringing two more players to the Etihad Stadium this summer, including a forward who is said to be admired by Jurgen Klopp. The defending Premier League champions have spent wisely to improve their squad, with Mateo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol having joined from Chelsea and RB Leipzig respectively.
City acted quickly to land Kovacic following the departure of Ilkay Gundogan, while Gvardiol was thought to have been a long-term target before moving to Manchester on a five-year contract. Pep Guardiola is now believed to be targeting at least two more signings in the form of Lucas Paqueta and Jeremy Doku, according to Fabrizio Romano.
It is said that Paqueta is a ‘priority’ target for City, who have already seen two offers rejected by West Ham for the midfielder’s services. They were initially knocked back with a £70million proposal before upping their bid to £87m but the Hammers are reportedly demanding around £95m in order to do a deal.
All parties are said to be confident that an agreement will eventually be reached, with City still desperate to add Paqueta to their ranks. Doku, meanwhile, has been chased by Guardiola since early August and negotiations over personal terms are thought to be at an advanced stage.

Doku has recently been linked with a potential move to Liverpool, with GFFN having claimed that the Reds are harbouring a ‘strong interest’ in the Rennes forward. It could be tricky for them to compete with City, though, given the pull of joining a treble-winning squad at the Etihad Stadium.
Guardiola is still looking to replace Riyad Mahrez and could do far worse than to land Doku, who has been hailed as one of Europe’s best young wingers for quite some time. However, it remains to be seen if City will be able to get it done in spite of Liverpool’s reported interest in bringing him to Anfield.

Doku came very close to joining the Merseyside giants back in 2018 but revealed two years later that he rejected the move in order to continue his development at Anderlecht, who he left to sign for Rennes in the summer of 2020.
“I was 15 and I had to choose between staying with Anderlecht or going to Liverpool,” he told De Zondag. “From the beginning my goal was to stay, at least if Anderlecht was willing to make an effort, which they eventually did.
“My parents and my manager know this very well. My father wanted me to go to Liverpool and my mother too, but I said ‘no, I want to stay’. For me that was the best path and it has always been in my head.”
