Manchester City reportedly look set to be handed a £45million cash injection that can help them to land a move for Harry Kane. The Tottenham striker is City’s top target for the final weeks of the summer transfer window.
But the Premier League champions are struggling to meet Tottenham’s £150million asking price for the star striker.
Spurs are refusing to discuss any move below that valuation, even rejecting a £100m-plus-player deal at the start of the window.
Pep Guardiola is desperate to bring a new to the Etihad Stadium, having allowed Sergio Aguero to depart on a free transfer.
Kane is the City manager’s top target having once again won the Premier League’s golden boot last season.
Their need for a new frontman was exposed in the defeat to Tottenham last week, in which City lacked a true cutting-edge.

One star who made his full City debut against Spurs was Jack Grealish, who was signed for a British-record breaking fee from Aston Villa.
The signing of Grealish has pushed one-time City Player of the Year Bernardo Silva further down the pecking order.
The Portuguese international starred in the 2018/2019 season, scoring 13 goals and notching 14 assists in all competitions.
But he has steadily seen his game-time at City decrease in the campaigns since as Guardiola added to his squad.

Grealish’s arrival is set to further limit his minutes, with the former Villa star taking up position in Silva’s left midfield position.
That led to Silva informing City that he wanted to leave the club this summer in search of more playing time.
Though he wants to depart, Silva has refused a move to Spurs as part of a deal that would bring Kane to Manchester.
He had hoped to instead move to La Liga champions Atletico Madrid, but that potential deal has collapsed with Diego Simeone’s men unable to meet City’s asking price.
According to the Daily Star, AC Milan are now set to hand him an escape route, aiding City’s bid for Kane in the process.
It is stated that the Serie A side are ready to bring the 27-year-old to the San Siro on a two-year loan deal for a £15m fee, before making the move permanent for £30m.
As well as allowing City to offload an unsettled player, the move will also give them a healthy cash injection which could help them to match Tottenham’s valuation of Kane.
Milan will have to move quickly to complete the deal, with just 10 days remaining before the window closes.
