Man United eye up Cucurella, Reguilon and Alonso amid left-back crisis

Man United ‘turn to Chelsea’s £60m flop Marc Cucurella, Tottenham outcast Sergio Reguilon and Barcelona’s Marcos Alonso’ as they aim to sign emergency left back before Friday’s deadline

  • Manchester United are eyeing up a trio of Spanish left-backs amid an injury crisis
  • Marc Cucurella, Sergio Reguilon, and Marcos Alonso are reportedly targets
  • Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia’s injuries have left Erik ten Hag short of cover

Manchester United reportedly have Marc Cucurella, Marcos Alonso, and Sergio Reguilon on their list as they hunt for a new left-back before Friday’s deadline.

Luke Shaw’s muscle injury could keep him out until November and it has left United desperately under-staffed at left-back, what with Tyrell Malacia also on the sidelines and Brandon Williams on loan at Ipswich.

Diogo Dalot struggled to fill in as a makeshift replacement in their 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest on Saturday and Erik ten Hag would not want the club’s ambitions dented by a lack of cover.

United have informally enquired about taking Marc Cucurella on loan from Chelsea, as reported by The Telegraph.

Cucurella has lost his place withthe Blues as Ben Chilwell is fully fit and thriving and having signed from Brighton for £60million last summer, he has not lived up to the expectations set on him – whether they were fair or not.

Man United have enquired about out-of-favour Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella for a loan

They have also asked about Barcelona’s Marcos Alonso, who the Spanish giants have finally managed to register for the season

Sergio Reguilon of Spurs completes a trio of Spanish left-backs that United are keen on to alleviate their injury crisis

He has yet to appear in the Premier League this year, with Ian Maatsen also impressing as a back-up to Chilwell.

United are also believed to have put feelers out for Alonso, who Barcelona were struggling to register in LaLiga due to their financial issues, though they have now.

Alonson is understood to be keen to stay at Barca, who he only joined last summer.

On top of that, they are interested in Reguilon of Spurs. He spent last campaign out on loan at Atletico Madrid.

All three are Spain internationals and would bring Premier League experience to United – in Alonso’s case, experience of winning the English top flight and the Champions League.
