Pep Guardiola’s side turned down the chance to re-sign the forward but the Bosnia international could still end up in Manchester with Corriere dello Sport reporting he could be on his way to Old Trafford.

Odion Ighalo’s loan deal with the Red Devils ended this month with the 31-year-old heading back to Shanghai Shenhua, meaning there could be space for a new forward.
Dzeko won five trophies with rivals City between 2011 and 2015 before leaving to join Roma.
The striker has been an important player for the Italians with 114 goals in 224 games but he looks set to leave following his disagreement with Fonseca.

The pair fell out following the sacking of Gianluca Gombar. The coach was dismissed after it emerged Roma had made an illegal substitution in their Coppa Italia tie with Spezia.
Dzeko and the rest of his team-mates allegedly refused to train following the decision before a meeting was held to change their minds. However, the striker has been frozen out of the first-team set-up since.
He could still stay in Italy with the striker in discussions over a loan deal to Inter Milan which could see Alexis Sanchez move in the opposite direction.
Sanchez has two goals and four assists in 19 games this season after completing a permanent move from Man United last summer.
Dzeko has eight goals and two assists in all competitions. Roma are currently four points behind Inter in the Serie A table.
