Man Utd £14m transfer request sent to Ed Woodward with 10-day deadline to complete deal

Manchester United and Inter Milan are reportedly £5million apart in their valuation of Alexis Sanchez with time running out to make a deal happen. Sanchez has taken time to settle into life in Serie A having been sent out on loan last summer.

The Chile international struggled with numerous injury issues in his first nine months at Inter, making just two league starts.

But the 31-year-old has rediscovered his best form since the restart, scoring three goals and providing six assists in eight games.

His good form has meant Inter are keen to keep the former Arsenal forward beyond the summer and United are eager to sell.

United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward wants to get Sanchez’s high wages off the books in order to help the club with their own summer transfer plans.

Earlier this month, United agreed to extend Sanchez’s loan deal until 5th August.

That means Sanchez’s last game could potentially be in the Europa League tie against Getafe and United are reportedly reluctant to extend it any further in fear of strengthening a possible rival in the competition.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Red Devils hope their stance in not extending Sanchez’s loan will lead Inter into increasing their bid to make the deal permanent.

The report states Inter are only prepared to pay between £9m and £14m due to Sanchez’s high wages.

  • Man Utd have already signed one Jadon Sancho transfer alternative

However, United are holding out for £19m meaning an agreement is still some way off.

Inter also want Sanchez to take a huge pay cut in order to make the move happen.

Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio are said to be in negotiations with United to strike a deal and they are keen to strike an agreement before his loan spell ends on August 5th.

United signed Sanchez in a swap deal with Arsenal back in 2018 which saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan head in the opposite direction.

  • Man Utd make Jadon Sancho transfer plan as Liverpool show interest

He immediately became one of the best paid footballers in the world, signing a four-and-a-half-year deal worth £14m a year after tax.

But he struggled to replicate the form he had shown at Arsenal, scoring just three goals in 32 Premier League appearances for United.

Mason Greenwood has since emerged as a superstar talent while Marcus Rashford occupies the left flank with Jadon Sancho also a top target for United in the transfer window meaning Sanchez doesn’t have a future at Old Trafford.
