Manchester United might not need to sign a new right-back in the January transfer window.
While it has been reported that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer might not be entirely convinced by Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s ability going forward, they have another option already at the club.
Although there have been linked with Kieran Trippier, Brandon Williams, 20, was named on the right side of defence against Watford in the FA Cup on Saturday evening.
Despite almost exclusively playing on the left for the United senior team, the youngster is right-footed, and was handed the chance to impress at Old Trafford.
MEN have now reported that although United are in the market for a right-back, Williams could be the solution.
Williams has been behind both Luke Shaw and Alex Telles in the pecking order so far this season, but his positional change could hand Solskjaer some welcome competition.
The Norwegian said this week: “With the signing of Alex Telles and the form of Luke Shaw, he's not really had a look in at left-back this season, Brandon.
“He played last season… I think he played in all three semis, in the semi-final of the Europa League, FA Cup, in the Carabao Cup, and he's had a great rise, a great first season.
“This season's been more difficult for him.”
Before adding: “I think he's put his head down, worked really hard lately. He will be involved tomorrow.
“He's in the squad. And he's shown me that he's got the desire to fight through this. That's the biggest thing, you know?
“When you find your first big contract, you do well, can you bounce back after not being in the team as much?
“And Brandon has showed that lately, so hopefully he'll just keep carrying on as he does.
“He knows my view on it. He knows my view on him, and we believe in the boy.”
