Man Utd and West Ham ‘exchange medical records’ as two transfers agreed

Manchester United have supposedly exchanged medical records with West Ham as they prepare to sell Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay to the Hammers, it has been reported. Both players are allegedly completing ‘long-distance’ medicals with the Red Devils only recently returning from their US tour.

West Ham are finally set to seal their first transfers of the summer following a frustrating few months for head coach David Moyes. Express Sport reported on Thursday that there has been tension at the London Stadium over a clash of visions for how the club’s transfer business should be approached.

Moyes is believed to want Premier League experience and could finally get his wish after chasing United duo Maguire and McTominay. It is claimed that the two Premier League clubs are ‘starting the process’ of completing the deals.

Both players have been out of favour at United, with Maguire stripped of the club captaincy and pushed down the pecking order for the centre-half position. Scotland international McTominay has seen Mason Mount added to the growing number of midfield reinforcements at Old Trafford over the last few years.

According to journalist Alan Nixon, Maguire and McTominay are completing long-distance medicals as they look to seal a departure from United. It is claimed that United and West Ham have exchanged medical records to help speed up the deals over the last 24 hours.

West Ham had a bid for Maguire rejected earlier this summer but it is reported that the two clubs have now come to a ‘compromise’ over a fee. The 30-year-old defender is valued by the Red Devils at around £30m – which will see them make a loss of at least £50m on the England man.

McTominay is a natural replacement for Declan Rice, who has joined Arsenal after a lengthy transfer saga. West Ham are the only Premier League club not to make a signing this summer despite receiving £105m for former captain Rice.

Moyes and West Ham technical director Tim Steidten have supposedly been at loggerheads over the transfer policy this summer. The head coach wants to speed up the process with reinforcements needed to build on last season’s Conference League-winning campaign.

There was frustration among fans when West Ham supposedly missed out on signing Carlos Borges. An 11th-hour bid from Ajax saw the former Manchester City youngster move to the Eredivisie outfit instead.

Meanwhile, United are keen to offload Maguire and McTominay in order to raise funds to continue their huge summer spending spree. Erik ten Hag has been backed with nearly £200m to seal moves for Mason Mount, Andre Onana and soon-to-be new striker Rasmus Hojlund.

United still want to sign another midfielder, with Sofyan Amrabat strongly linked with Old Trafford. It is likely that the 20-times English league champions will need to raise funds before they can complete further business.
