Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has now backed down on Jadon Sancho, reports say. The Red Devils manager had previously made it clear to Ed Woodward that he wasn’t willing to accept anything less than the 20-year-old. But he’s now altered his stance and the club are working on alternatives.
Manchester United boss Solskjaer has spent the last 18 months tracking Sancho.
He wanted the Red Devils to land the Borussia Dortmund last summer but, having guided the club to sixth in the Premier League table, their failure to secure Champions League football ultimately counted against them.
Solskjaer has previously made it clear to Woodward that he was unwilling to settle for anything less than Sancho.
But with negotiations with Borussia Dortmund proving to be difficult, the Norwegian is now prepared to look at alternative transfer targets this summer.
The Evening Standard the club have as many as five different players on their radar as Solskjaer looks to reinforce his attacking options next term.
Bayern Munich star Kingsley Coman is of interest, with the forward’s future at the Allianz Arena up in the air following the arrival of Leroy Sane.

Barcelona trickster Ousmane Dembele has also emerged as a target, although United are suspicious of the 23-year-old’s ongoing injury problems.
Links to Ansu Fati are refusing to die down, with Barcelona adamant the 17-year-old is their future and won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.
And United retain an interest in Juventus’ Douglas Costa, despite the Brazil international only scoring three goals from 29 games.
On Costa, ESPN pundit Stewart Robson recently expressed a belief the forward could be the ideal Sancho alternative despite his issues in Turin.
“If you’re looking for a right-sided player that can come in onto his left foot and get crosses in and get shots away and link up with the front player, he’s an excellent player,” Robson told ESPN FC.

Man Utd star Marcus Rashford’s transfer discussion with Ed Woodward about Jadon Sancho
“He hasn’t really done anywhere near as well at Juventus as people thought he would.
“He’s had his injury problems, he’s had his disciplinary problems, he got sent off earlier on in the season, but on his day he’s still an excellent player and I don’t think he’s been given the opportunities that he would have hoped for.
“When he was at Bayern Munich he was a magnificent player and I think if he went to Manchester United, he could rediscover that form.
“So I think he would be a good alternative.”

“Manchester United should forget Jadon Sancho and sign Harry Kane instead – it would make them title contenders,” Merson told the Daily Star.
“With Sancho, it’s a transfer saga that’s dragging on now, and I keep on weighing it up thinking: ‘Is this what United really need?’
“They’ve got Mason Greenwood, who’s going to be a star. Marcus Rashford is only going to get better and better.
“But while Anthony Martial lets nobody down, I think they need an out and out centre forward.
“With Sancho, where is everyone going to play? Do they leave Greenwood out? I just think with £100m, why don’t you go and get Kane from Tottenham?
“Over 38 games, Harry Kane will score more goals for you than Sancho. I think they have a chance of winning the Premier League if he goes there.”
