Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hailed the impact of Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani after the players both got on the scoresheet to help the Red Devils defeat Tottenham in the Premier League on Saturday. United eventually ran-out 3-0 winners, with substitute Marcus Rashford adding a third late on.

“The experience of Edinson Cavani and Cristiano is massive,” Solskjaer said after the match.

“We need it – we can’t hide. The week has been difficult for all the players. They really stuck at it. Exprience counts in situations like this.”

United opened the scoring six minutes before the interval as Ronaldo volleyed home after being picked out by Bruno Fernandes.

And the Portugal forward turned provider after the interval as he teed-up Cavani to dink the ball over the onrushing Hugo Lloris.

The visitors then wrapped-up their victory in the closing stages as Rashford found himself in acres of space to finish well.

The result moves United up to fifth in the Premier League table and halts a run of four top-flight games without a victory.

It also eases the pressure on boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who has been clinging to his job after struggling to find a solution for his side’s poor run of form.
