Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer urged to tell Jadon Sancho one thing to seal transfer

Manchester United are interested in signing Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho in the summer transfer window. And Rio Ferdinand believes the England international would be a superb signing for the Red Devils.

The former United defender thinks Sancho will wear the No. 7 shirt at Old Trafford if Ed Woodward can get a deal over the line.

Any transfer for the 20-year-old is likely to cost over £100million.

Ferdinand believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should tell Sancho he will be the man the club build around as they look to close the gap on Liverpool and Manchester City.

“He’s one of the best young kids in the world at the moment. He has been unbelievable, he’s a player of huge potential,” said Ferdinand on Sancho on an Instagram live chat.

“[Ousmane] Dembele, who was at Dortmund then went to Barcelona, was thought of similarly to Sancho and went [to a big club] for big money and it didn’t work out for him.

“I don’t want to see that for Jadon. I want him to go to a team where he will play and then improve.

“He has all the potential to be a humongous superstar. He brings the playground to the football field. Not many people do that.”

When asked by a fan if Sancho will wear the number seven shirt, Ferdinand added: “He has to. If he wears the seven though he has to be there [at the club] for 10 years.”

Sancho has been in sensational form this season, netting 17 goals and providing 19 assists in all competitions.

The winger does not know when he will next play though with football being suspended due to the global coronavirus pandemic.
