Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s transfer priority has been explained as they continue to battle for Jadon Sancho’s signature.
The Red Devils are still in talks with Borussia Dortmund over the Englishman, still at odds over the forward’s £108m valuation.
They have already been offered alternative business from Real Madrid, with full-back Sergio Reguilon offered to Solskjaer’s side.
But ESPN have reported that the club have not given up hopes on signing the Englishman.
Sancho is still a “primary target” for the manager – but negotiations for the 20-year-old’s fee and wages are “proving difficult”.
United appeared to be dealt a blow last month when Dortmund director Michael Zorc publicly claimed the Englishman would play at the Westfalenstadion after their “deadline” was missed.
Sancho has impressed the club throughout the previous season, scoring 20 goals and 20 assists for the Bundesliga team.
And Jamie Carragher has warned United that they need to secure the forward’s signature to challenge for the Premier League title next season.
Speaking to the Mirror, the Sky Sports pundit said: "United have got a clear run at Sancho now – but that will change if he’s still at Dortmund next year.
"I’d be very surprised if Liverpool didn’t try to sign him next summer. That’s why I think United will pay what they have got to pay.
"When United have paid big fees for players in the past we’ve all laughed and said, 'they’ve been done again'. People called Woodward a joke – selling clubs could always get an extra £10m or £20m from him.

"Now Borussia Dortmund have asked £108m for Sancho. And because United haven’t paid it straight away everyone is criticising them.
"Woodward is damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t."
It comes as United’s shirt number selections have also hinted that a deal could still go through for Sancho.
With Sancho commanding £108m, it could also see Solskjaer send six youngsters out on loan.
