Man Utd boss Solskjaer sends Martin Odegaard message ahead of Arsenal clash

Arsenal: Arteta explains how he convinced Odegaard to join

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has sent a message to Martin Odegaard ahead of his side’s trip to the Emirates Stadium tomorrow (5.30pm). United will be looking to bounce back from their shock 2-1 loss against Sheffield United in midweek.

Arsenal have been bolstered by the arrival of Odegaard from Real Madrid and he could be in line to make his debut against United.

The 22-year-old has joined the Gunners on loan until the end of the season to try and add some much-needed creativity into Mikel Arteta’s squad.

Solskjaer knows as good as anyone the danger that his fellow Norwegian can pose.

And he has wished the new Arsenal man luck for the rest of the season – but not this weekend.

“Martin is a very talented young player,” Solskjaer said.

“We know from the national team that he can cause anyone problems. I just hope he isn’t finding his form on Saturday! We wish him all the best.”

Arsenal put on an impressive performance to beat Southampton 3-1 in midweek and Solskjaer noted their upturn in form.

“They have been impressive lately, turned it around,” he added. “Since the Chelsea game they have got really good results.

“Always great games against Arsenal. Some classics between the two sides.”

Meanwhile, Solskjaer also provided an update on Jesse Lingard, who is on the verge of joining West Ham.

He said: “Likely that Jesse loan deal is going through, likely that Marcos [Rojo] goes back to Argentina – a little bit of paperwork left to be done. Sergio, not heard anything from there.

“We want Jesse to come back here revitalised having proven himself at West Ham.

“He has been unfortunate with us. I just want him to go there and enjoy himself.”
