Man Utd boss Ten Hag has two perfect players for Jassim’s ‘dream’ signing Neymar

Sheikh Jassim of Qatar has reportedly already outlined his ‘dream’ first signing if he is successful in beating Sir Jim Ratcliffe and completing a takeover of Manchester United. Both he and the INEOS chief are awaiting news of who is chosen by the Glazers to be the preferred bidder, though it is unlikely that serious progress will be made before the FA Cup final.

Transfer market preparation is well and truly underway, however, after the conclusion of the Premier League season on Sunday. A third-placed finish for the Red Devils ensured that they have Champions League football to look forward to, an enticing proposition for any potential incoming players.

Neymar has been described as the player that Jassim wants to land first as a statement signing if his bid is successful, though questions had been raised over how he would fit into Erik ten Hag’s side. Bruno Fernandes has largely been the creator-in-chief through the middle, but Arsenal icon Emmanuel Petit believes that Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho especially can help Neymar adjust to life in England.

“If he goes to Man Utd, I will be very happy for them and the Premier League,” Petit told Genting Casino. “They have Rashford and Sancho who can man both wings, but also have the skills to rotate so Neymar can easily fit into that cycle.”

Reports out of France have suggested that PSG would be open to selling Neymar this summer as he alongside Lionel Messi could pave the way for a rebuild in the French capital, but United would likely have competition should they attempt to bring Jassim’s man to Old Trafford.

Petit believes that Neymar “would love it” at Arsenal under Mikel Arteta in the Gunners’ dynamic frontline while also suggesting that he could rest and rotate in north London, as injuries have hampered his career at PSG over the past few seasons during crucial moments.

“I think Neymar will suit any big club,” Petit added. “If he comes to Arsenal, I would love it and I think he will too. I think he will enjoy the technical football and the style of Arsenal. He would love to play with younger players as he is quite mature himself.

“He will also have revenge on his mind with everything that he has been going through at PSG, and the tears he shed at the World Cup.

“I think he will be happy to move to Arsenal if that is the case. He can play on the left and the right, and because of his ankle injuries he can be a player in rotation.”
