Manchester United fans Donny van de Beek to have a “new role” for the Liverpool clash after impressing in training.
The Red Devils will take on their historic rivals as they look to remain three points clear at the top of the table.
While Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba have been in fine form, it has meant van de Beek has not appeared in the league since the 6-2 win over Leeds.
But footage has emerged from the latest training session which shows Van de Beek has a sharp eye for goal.
In the clip, the squad are running a mini game at Carrington with seven players on each team and a goalkeeper.
The Dutchman picks up a loose ball in the middle of the pitch from Jesse Lingard’s blocked long-range effort.
After an interchange of passes between Daniel James and Scott McTominay, the 23-year-old finds himself in space 15 yards from goal.
Set up by the Scot, Van de Beek curls his right foot around the ball and whips it towards goal.
There is nothing goalkeeper Dean Henderson can go, despite his acrobatic dive, as the ball nestles into the bottom-right corner.
The Dutchman’s teams celebrate as the midfielder cooly walks away from goal.
This footage was published on the club’s official YouTube channel, where the United faithful were blown away with Van de Beek’s shooting ability.
“VDB – what a bend,” one supporter said.
Another commented: “Bend it like Beek.”
While a third suggested his goal-scoring skills should be used at Anfield, with: “I hope that goal changes Ole’s mind on VDB.”
And a fourth added: “Let’s all take a moment to appreciate that VDB goal – what a finish!
“Can’t wait for him to break into the first team, it’s only a matter of time.”
A fifth changing him from a bench player to regular starter, saying: “Donny van unlock a door which other United players can’t – should play every game.”
With a sixth simply writing: “The VDB boom is coming.”
Van de Beek may get a starting chance as United will be without two players and have injury doubts on three others.
