Liverpool v Man Utd: Premier League preview
Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has suggested the Red Devils will consider sacking Ole Gunnar Solskjaer if they fail to beat Liverpool to the Premier League title next season. The Norwegian manager’s role has been questioned throughout his tenure amid mixed levels of success for the 20-time English champions.
However, Solskjaer’s position appears to be secure for now with United leading the way at the top of the Premier League table ahead of their Merseyside rivals.
The two clubs meet at Anfield on Sunday afternoon in an encounter that could heavily influence the outcome of this year’s title race.
Speaking ahead of the match, Neville revealed his belief that Solskjaer could be given the boot if he fails to deliver United’s first domestic crown since 2013.
“Ole has to eventually win the Premier League title – or he won’t live as Manchester United’s manager for a long time,” Neville told The Mirror.
“Ole knows that. At the end of next season, he will have had three-and-a-half years at the club. That’s enough time.

“Jurgen Klopp had four years to win it at Liverpool, but he also got to a Champions League final. So Ole has to get a lot closer this season – and then next season he really has to challenge.”
Neville continued, urging Solskjaer to consider targeting reinforcements in three specific areas this month in order to prepare for the title run-in.
“Even now, I think to myself: ‘If they had just got a top centre-back and a top right winger then it would be even better’,” Neville added.
