Manchester United owners the Glazers would reportedly prefer to sign Edinson Cavani over Luka Jovic this summer. United are claimed to be interested in strengthening their attacking options by signing either Cavani or Jovic. Cavani is currently a free agent having left PSG at the end of his contract in the summer.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid are willing to let Jovic leave the Bernabeu on loan in order for him to get regular game time.
Jovic has scored just two goals in 18 La Liga appearances since his £54.8million move to Real in the summer of 2019.
The Serbia international is 11 years younger than Uruguay star Cavani.
However, United chiefs would prefer to sign the elder statesman according to Spanish outlet AS.

One sticking point over a deal for Cavani could be the high wages he would ask for.
AS claim Jovic would be a cheaper option for the Old Trafford club.

Cavani scored 200 goals in 301 appearances for PSG across a seven-year period.
However, he suffered his worst season in front of goal last term, netting just seven goals in 22 outings.

His lack of game time was largely down to the form of Kylian Mbappe as well as Neymar staying fit for the majority of the campaign.
Atletico Madrid are also interested in signing Cavani despite already bringing in his international team-mate Luis Suarez.
Jovic has also attracted interest from elsewhere, with Serie A clubs Roma, Inter Milan and AC Milan all reportedly eyeing the player.
United seemingly want to add to their striker resources before next Monday’s transfer deadline.
Anthony Martial enjoyed his best campaign in front of goal last season but Odion Ighalo is the only other recognised centre-forward in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad.
Solskjaer prefers to use Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood off the flanks, which is why the club are pursuing Cavani and Jovic.
Meanwhile, United picked up their first Premier League win of the season on Saturday, beating Brighton 3-2 thanks to a dramatic late penalty from Bruno Fernandes.
But Red Devils legend Roy Keane has not been impressed with his former side and reckons Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could lose his job if the club do not finish in the top four this season.
“The honeymoon period is certainly over for Ole,” Keane said on Sky Sports.
“The pressure starts to mount now, particularly with performances like they’ve had over the last week or so.”
“Yeah I think so [Solskjaer could get sacked].
“If they can invest in the next week and buy one or two… if they don’t then it’s tough days ahead for United.”
