Manchester United’s hopes of making further signings are sure to depend on the potential sales of seven players after a huge outlay this summer. The Red Devils will take their spend in this window up to £115m when they announce the arrival of Raphael Varane from Real Madrid.
United are set to follow up the blockbuster signing of Jadon Sancho with another big-money move for France centre-back Varane as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer targets some silverware this season.
Sancho set the Red Devils back £73m from Borussia Dortmund, with Varane expecting to cost up to £42m.
United have confirmed that they are in the very final stages of securing a deal for the World Cup winner, with just a medical and personal terms to be finalised.
However, with Solskjaer targeting more arrivals, United may well need to sell more players to free up more funds.

A new mainline striker, a defensive-midfielder and a right-back are all thought to be on United’s wishlist.
But they will need to resolve the futures of fringe members Phil Jones, Diogo Dalot and Andreas Pereira before they can launch more offers.
Eric Bailly’s future is also uncertain, claim ESPN, while Jesse Lingard could still return to West Ham after an impressive loan spell at the London Stadium.
Donny van de Beek had a bitterly disappointing first season at Old Trafford and has been linked with an immediate move, while a new striker could signal the end of Anthony Martial’s time at the club.

Dias arrived at the Etihad Stadium from Benfica 12 months ago and took the Premier League by storm, helping Pep Guardiola’s side win the title.
And Parlour said: “Man City were so good defensively last year. That’s what they really improved on.

“Ruben Dias came in and you never really know what sort of situation you’re going to have with a player whether he settles or not.
“But he settled so well in the Premier League and John Stones got better alongside him.
“So if Varane can be very similar to how Ruben Dias settled in to the Premier League then they’ve got a fantastic defence.”
