Manchester United star Aaron Wan-Bissaka has hinted he could quit England with his latest Instagram decision.
The full-back was snubbed by Gareth Southgate for the latest Three Lions squad amid the selections of Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Ben Chilwell (Chelsea), Ainsley Maitland-Niles (Arsenal), Kieran Trippier (Atletico Madrid) and Reece James (Chelsea).
With his 50th Red Devils appearance coming up, the full-back has only been called up three times since his emergence in 2017.
But there is another way for Wan-Bissaka to make international appearances.
The defender has Congolese family, which saw him represent DR Congo’s U20 side in an 8-0 loss to England five years ago.
With four players appearing to be in his way for the Three Lions – as well as Bukayo Saka’s debut against Wales as a left-wing back – the 22-year-old hinted on social media at a decision.
On his Instagram page, Wan-Bissaka changed the flag emoji at the bottom of his description from the England flag to the Congo flag.
This was soon shared on Reddit, where the United faithful praised the youngster’s decision.
“Honestly, England are so stacked at right-back, I don’t blame him if he switches allegiances,” one supporter said.
Another commented: “Great move by AWB – might light a fire under the FA and Southgate.”
While a third added: “He can still register for DR Congo, so maybe he’s sick of seeing all of his United team-mates play for their national teams.”
But others sent a warning to the English FA, urging them to not let the 22-year-old slip out of their grasp.
A fourth added: “F***ing stupid if the FA lets it happen.”

And a fifth identified Wan-Bissaka’s strength for the England side, commenting: “Would be stupid of England to pass up such a good one-on-one defender.
“Could be very useful in big tournaments.”
With a sixth simply writing: “This would be really sad.”
It comes as United legend and former full-back Gary Neville has told Wan-Bissaka what he must focus on at United.
