Edinson Cavani has made it clear he is committed to Manchester United this season amid reports Barcelona held talks over a surprise deadline day transfer. The Uruguayan penned a new one-year contract extension at Old Trafford earlier this summer, snubbing the chance to return to South America with Boca Juniors.
Yet there have been doubts over Cavani’s future following the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo, who wants to take his No 7 shirt.
However, Cavani is still part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans for the upcoming season.
Earlier this morning on deadline day, reports from Catalonia claimed Barcelona were negotiating for Cavani behind the scenes.
While talks were progressing intensely with Cavani’s entourage, United were never prepared to let him go.

Fabrizio Romano tweeted that Cavani will “100 per cent” not be joining Barcelona and El Matador himself shared the update on Instagram.
He added a tensing bicep and red circle emoji, symbolic of his commitment to United.
Cavani is expected to complete one final season in England before moving onto a new challenge.
One player that has left United on deadline day is Daniel James.

Man Utd star Anthony Martial ‘turns down’ last-minute deadline day transfer approach
He started in Sunday’s 1-0 win at Wolves but that has proved to be his last game for Man United after signing for Leeds for £30million.
Anthony Martial reportedly turned down the chance to join Lyon on loan today.
French newspaper L’Equipe say Lyon made a late swoop for the forward but he decided to stay at United and fight for his place.
Jesse Lingard will also be staying at Old Trafford despite continuous links to West Ham.
The Hammers have instead opted to pay £26m to sign former Everton man Nikola Vlasic.
