Man Utd star Rashford forces Alexander-Arnold to relive horror moment in training video

Manchester United star Marcus Rashford made his Liverpool rival Trent Alexander-Arnold relive one of the worst moments of his career in England training. The striker sat his international team-mate down with the same outrageous piece of skill he had skinned him with previously in a Premier League match.

Rashford can be seen dazzling one of the world’s best right-backs in an England training video posted online during the current international break, which has seen Gareth Southgate’s side beat Wales and Belgium ahead of Wednesday’s Nations League game against Denmark.

And it was eerily reminiscent of a moment which Alexander-Arnold previously described as the most difficult of his career.

In the England training game, Rashford can be seen cutting in from the left, drawing Alexander-Arnold into over-committing.

As the Liverpool defender slides in, Rashford drags the ball back with his left before an audacious faint with his right, then slams the ball into the net right-footed with Alexander-Arnold helpless on the ground.

United fans were quick to point out on social media that it wasn’t the first time their hero had done that to the right-back.

Rashford did the same in a 2-1 win for the Red Devils in March 2018, in which he scored both his side’s goals playing on the left wing.

After that game, Alexander-Arnold admitted to The Athletic that the the experience was “the toughest in terms of a direct opponent and someone getting on top of me in professional football.”

It was just his 15th start in the Premier League, and he admitted afterwards: “I’d say I underestimated him.

“It was a massive learning curve for me. It was something that I hated happening.

“As a Liverpool player, it’s probably the worst game of the season to perform like that. But when things like that happen you have to learn from them.

“It was a wake-up call. You hate days like that. You don’t want to experience that.

“You remember how it felt and that makes you try everything you possibly can to ensure you don’t have another one like it.”

Alexander-Arnold was taken off with 10 minutes to go in that game, but since matured into one of the Premier League’s best players.

But after his slip in England training, United fans were happy to remind him of his Old Trafford nightmare.

One posted a clip of the video, saying: “Trent getting sat down by Rashford as usual” with laughing emojis.

Another wrote: “Trent being sat down by Rashford for the 3rd time ahahaha.”
