Man Utd ‘target Vlahovic’, scouts see horror Meslier game and Cavani ‘to leave’

Manchester United face a big January transfer window as new manager Ralf Rangnick attempts to bring players in capable of playing his high-pressing style while also shifting the Old Trafford deadwood.

It means the club could bring in new players in a number of key positions, with the club being linked with stars from across the world.

One of those could be Fiorentina forward Dusan Vlahovic, according to reports, while they are also being linked with a new goalkeeper from a Premier League rival.

And striker Edinson Cavani could be set to leave the club, with his contract due to expire at the end of the season.

Daily Star Sport has taken a look at the latest Manchester United transfer news below.

Vlahovic 'targeted'

Manchester United could target Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic after the forward rejected the "highest contract in Fiorentina history".

The striker's contract expires at the end of next season, meaning his club could decide to cash in on him in January before his value substantially decreases in the summer.

And reports have suggested the player will not accept a new contract at the Serie A club and so could be set to leave.

CEO of Fiorentina, Joe Barone told Repubblica : "We’ve offered Vlahovic the highest contract ever in the history of Fiorentina, several times.

"Both Dusan and his agent made us realise that they do not want to accept. Our bid is still on the table."

Scouts 'watch horror display'

Manchester United scouts were reportedly sent to watch Leeds United's Illan Meslier's horror performance on Tuesday night – where he conceded seven goals to arch-rivals Man City.

According to the Daily Mail, United have "identified the 21-year-old as the best young keeper in the country" and sent Tony Coton and chief scout Jim Lawlor to check on the player.

The report adds that Meslier is seen as a "longer-term target" should either Dean Henderson or David de Gea leave the club.

Cavani 'to leave'

United will allow Edinson Cavani to leave the club, it has been reported.

Spanish outlet Sport say the Red Devils have already informed Cavani he will be allowed to leave ahead of the upcoming January transfer window.

Cavani has been linked with a move to Barcelona following Sergio Aguero's retirement due to health problems, although he may move back to South America instead.
