Manchester United remain interested in a deal for Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga. Though Raphael Varane is currently their preferred target, John Murtough is also eyeing the 18-year-old. So it’s now time to look at what can be gleamed from the 18-year-old’s Instagram account.

Camavinga, at the current time of writing, follows 451 people on the platform.

And the good news is for Manchester United that players past and present appear to be admired by the Rennes teenager.

Camavinga follows Mason Greenwood, who is expected to be deployed in the No 9 role more often going forward following the arrival of Jadon Sancho.

He also keeps tabs on Paul Pogba, though there’s still a possibility the France international may leave Old Trafford behind amid links to Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain.

Camavinga also follows Red Devils legend Rio Ferdinand, who has been doing punditry work for BBC Sport at the European Championships in recent weeks.

And he’s also tracking compatriot Varane, who is expected to move to United amid his desire to leave Real Madrid for a new challenge elsewhere.

Other than that, Camavinga mainly likes to stay in the loop when it comes to team-mates at Rennes and other French players.

And whether a move to United takes place this summer is something only time will tell.

Camavinga, should he move to the club, may be deployed alongside Pogba and Bruno Fernandes in the middle of the park.

And that would certainly make for exciting reading, especially with Jadon Sancho, Edinson Cavani and Marcus Rashford then unleashed in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s attack.

As well as Camavinga, the club do have interest in other midfielders, too.

Declan Rice is one player under consideration, with the West Ham star looking increasingly likely to leave the London Stadium behind.

And they’ve also been linked with Yves Bissouma, even though he appears set for a move to Liverpool or Arsenal instead.

Camavinga has already been hailed by United midfielder Paul Pogba, who called the 18-year-old a ‘tiny dancer’ last year.

“To score after his first start [against Ukraine in a friendly], that is honestly wonderful,” he said.

“I was truly happy for him. I only wish him the best and much more. He has everything for that.

“His future is in his hands. He is very at ease, he is a little dancer. He makes me think a bit about me.

“He is not a timid person. It is good, because he is confident. He has confidence in his qualities.

“He is a very good youngster, I like him enormously.”

Meanwhile, speaking in February, Camavinga’s agent Jonathan Barnett predicted ‘mass interest’ in the Rennes star.

“At the moment, he’s a Rennes player,” Barnett told Goal.

“He likes Rennes and, at the moment, we haven´t really taken to other clubs. It isn’t our position.

“Let’s see what happens later on, but he’s doing well in Rennes and that’s fine. Being the best midfielder in the world, that’s how I see his future, [with] a lot of medals and a lot of trophies.

“[Madrid are] a great club, a great club to play for.

“Eduardo will have a choice of a lot of clubs if Rennes decides to release him. They will be one of the four of five clubs in the world he might go to.

“Eduardo would love to play for a top club. Madrid are one of those top clubs in the world, so are Barcelona.”
