Manchester United want to add Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho to their ranks this summer but have now hatched a plan in case a deal becomes too difficult to pull off. Ed Woodward and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer are eyeing Barcelona ace Ousmane Dembele who is currently out of favour at the Nou Camp.
Dembele has struggled to make much of an impact at the Catalan club since his switch from Dortmund in the summer of 2017.
United are looking to add first-team quality to close the gap on Liverpool and Manchester City in the Premier League.
Sancho has been sensational this season for Dortmund, netting 20 goals and providing 20 assists for his team-mates.
But the Bundesliga side are said to want in the region of €100million (£87m) for the England international.

United are not prepared to pay that sort of money and are therefore looking at Dembele as a possible alternative, according to The Athletic.
The France star has hardly played for Barcelona this season and could be available at a more reasonable price in what in a transfer window severely impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
Dortmund have also set an August 10 deadline although United are not said to be worried by that.
Meanwhile, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has urged the club to offer a new contract to Paul Pogba.
