Man Utd’s disastrous transfer window could see Solskjaer miss out on six targets

Manchester United supporters are unhappy at the club's lack of transfer business this summer.

Donny van de Beek has been brought in from Ajax but Jadon Sancho is the player fans want to see at Old Trafford.

Borussia Dortmund have so far held firm over the 20-year-old, who looks set to stay at Signal Iduna Park.

United have missed out on a host of targets after prioritising Sancho for the majority of the window.

And by the October 5 transfer deadline, the Red Devils could have missed out on more than six players who club bosses fancied to bring in.

Sancho, as mentioned, was the club's first choice this summer.

But Dortmund's self-imposed August 10 transfer deadline means United look to have missed the boat.

The German club want £108m for the youngster, which United aren't willing to pay at the minute.

Elsewhere, Gareth Bale is returning to Tottenham after the north London club secured a season-long loan deal with Real Madrid.

A £13m agreement was reached between Spurs chairman Daniel Levy and the La Liga giants.

And he is now poised to be back playing in the Premier League this season.

United apparently gazumped Spurs' offer to Madrid – but the player chose a return to north London.

Another transfer target was Aston Villa's Jack Grealish, who has just signed a new five-year deal at Aston Villa.

"I had a good season last season and there was interest in myself from other clubs," the playmaker admitted.

"But I truly believe everything happens for a reason and I just happened to sign a new contract at Aston Villa and I've got the biggest smile on my face."

Another attacker United wanted at the start of the window was Ferran Torres.

In Torres, Manchester City have got their hands on one of Spain’s most highly-rated young prospects, and AS claim they even beat arch-rivals United to his signature.

The Spanish outlet report that United identified him as a cheaper alternative to Sancho.

Solskjaer and co are understood to have opened talks with Torres, yet in the end City’s sporting project convinced him to reject their advances and join Guardiola’s side instead.

Liverpool have also moved a step closer to signing United target Thiago.

The Athletic this morning report the Reds have agreed a £27m fee for the midfielder, who is yet to agree personal terms.

It was expected that United would swoop in, should an agreement not be reached between Liverpool and Bayern.

Meanwhile, at the back, Sergio Reguilon was also expected to join the Old Trafford outfit.

But Tottenham again look set to beat their Premier League rivals to a deal.

The Spaniard is expected to sign for Jose Mourinho after Spurs agreed to include a buyback clause in the Real Madrid transfer, something which United were unwilling to do.

United are now left looking for even more alternatives after a tricky few months of transfer business.
