Mancini on why Zlatan has been ‘on Messi and Ronaldo’s level’ throughout career
Roberto Mancini has remarkably claimed that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is "on the same level as" Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Messi and Ronaldo have dominated European football for over a decade and boast 11 Ballon d’Or titles between them.
Many fans believe them to be the two greatest players ever, regardless of who they think edges the debate.
But Mancini has sensationally insisted that Ibrahimovic deserves to be in the frame, telling Italian outlet Sportmediaset : “Zlatan will be remembered as one of the greatest forwards of all time.
“I put him on the same level as Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. He won the league title wherever he went, scoring a ton of goals.
“He's done well at Milan too, this season, but I don't know what his plans are for the future.”
Mancini understandably has a soft spot for the Swede, who was Inter’s top goalscorer in Serie A in the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons as the San Siro club won the Scudetto back-to-back under Mancini.
Elsewhere, Ibrahimovic has forged a legendary career with his phenomenal tally of over 450 career goals guiding him to league titles across Europe – with Ajax, Juventus, Barcelona, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.
The 38-year-old also won the League Cup and Europa League with Manchester United before lighting up the MLS with La Galaxy.
