Former Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen believes Mauricio Pochettino is looking at a role back in the Premier League, potentially with Manchester United.
Pochettino has been out of work for 12 months having been sacked by Tottenham last year despite leading the side to the Champions League final.
The Argentine has been regularly linked with a job at Old Trafford with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer having struggled at times at United.
The Red Devils have impressed in recent matches and thrashed RB Leipzig 5-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday.
And while Vertonghen didn’t mention United, he hinted that Pochettino will be keeping a close eye on goings on at the Premier League giants.
"I can imagine he's impatient," the Benfica defender told CBS Soccer's Que Golazo podcast. "I think the English league suits him very well as he's a manager that prioritises fitness levels and the physicality of the game.
"I think managing in the Premier League is probably the best thing he can do. He will always want to coach a big team I guess, so you have to look at the biggest teams in the league and there are only two or three you can really look at I think at this point.
Rio Ferdinand warns Man Utd why pairing is ‘not good enough to win top trophies’
"I won't name them out of respect for the other managers, but I think that's what he's looking at as well and he wants that big team to confirm him what he's been doing with Tottenham and what he did very well.
"If I was him I would be impatient because he really loved his job and you want to continue that."
ESPN expert Julien Laurens believes Pochettino would be demanding if he became Manchester United boss.
Asked why Pochettino would want to take over at United given the Red Devils board's underperformance, Laurens said: "Maybe if they go and get Pochettino, he can have the assurances that a sporting director will be appointed at some point after him.

"Maybe he can get assurances that he will have more power in the transfer market for United than Solskjaer or previous managers had.
"There's a lot of ways if they get Pochettino that he can have a lot of leeway in the sense that, 'Okay you want me? No problem, but you also need to give me this, this and this.'
"It would be a very clever way for Pochettino or someone else to do it that way, coming into the club but with more power than the current manager has, for example."
