Mesut Ozil was offered a role at BT Sport after sharing his thoughts on Arsenal’s Europa League win over Rapid Vienna on Twitter.

The German, who is currently earning £350,000-a-week in north London, is not part of the squad for the European campaign this season.

It has been a tough week for the midfielder as it was confirmed he would also not be part of the Premier League squad this year.

But Ozil may have been handed a boost by broadcaster BT Sport after his latest comments.

Ahead of the win in Austria, the German wrote on Twitter: “When I can’t support on the pitch tonight, I will support in front of the TV In London.”

The post has since earned more than 60,000 likes on the social media channel – and it also caught the attention of BT Sport presenter Jake Humphrey.

He wrote back: “Join us in the studio next Thursday?”

The host backed this up on the air, saying: "Mesut, this is an open invitation.

“If next Thursday you want to come and join us, the offer is there."

This is when the Gunners will play their second game of the Europa League campaign at home against Dundalk.

Ozil continued to share his thoughts on social media throughout the game, saying at half time: “0-0 so far, but c’mon lads.

“Let’s try and make sure we take a win back home with us! I’m cheering you on.”

It comes as the No.10 issued a statement earlier this week following the club’s decision to put him in exile.

He said on Twitter: "This is a difficult message to write to the Arsenal fans that I've not played for over the past few years.

"I'm really deeply disappointed by the fact that I've not been registered for the Premier League season for the time being.

"Upon signing my new contract in 2018, I pledged my loyalty and allegiance to the club that I love, Arsenal, and it saddens me that this has not been reciprocated.

"As I have just found out, loyalty is hard to come by nowadays. I've always tried to remain positive from week to week that there's maybe a chance to get back in the squad soon again. That is why I kept silent so far.”
