Micah Richards was left shocked by the laid-back style of Sergio Aguero on his move to Manchester City in 2011 – revealing that he initially considered Carlos Tevez to be better.
The former England defender detailed his early thoughts about the Argentina forward before his July 1 Barcelona switch was made official on Monday, explaining how his opinion changed.
Aguero joined the Premier League side from Atletico Madrid in 2011, and it didn't take him long to justify his £35m price-tag and ended up as their all-time record goalscorer.
However, Richards was not feeling so optimistic ahead of his first training session, going as far as calling him the worst he has ever seen in terms of effort.
Richards told BBC Sport: "I thought he was going to be sensational but when I trained with him I thought 'have we made a mistake here?' I thought Tevez was better – but then he makes his debut…
"The fans just erupted when he came on and it was like a genuine superstar here. You can't write it and from then I knew we had signed a player.
"I was there for four years with him. With Aguero, you don't associate him with being a superstar in terms of how he was off the pitch. He was the most humble person ever."
Aguero, who managed 260 goals for the club across 390 appearances, left the club with five Premier League titles, an FA Cup and six League Cup winners medals.
Barcelona detailed on Monday: "Barcelona and Sergio ‘Kun’ Aguero have reached an agreement for the player to join the Club from 1 July when his contract with Manchester City expires.
"The player will sign a contract until the end of the 2022/23 season and his buy out clause is set at 100 million euros."

Nedum Onuoha also gave his thoughts on the iconic forward, mentioning his personality.
He said: "I always found Aguero was a good guy to be around. The writing was on the wall for me but he still carried on around us. Someone like Sergio was as humble as they came.
"In a very short space of time, it went from a team hoping to be in the top six to a team who expected to be top. Players such as Sergio had been brought in to win the league. The mentality had changed."
