  • The Monaco president believes anything can happen but the player wants out
  • Vasilyev claims PSG can convince him to stay if they offer him a good project

Monaco president Vadim Vasilyev – who sold Kylian Mbappe to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017 – believes the French striker has his mind set on an exit from the French club.

Mbappe has been strongly linked with a move away from the Parc des Princes with Real Madrid and Liverpool believed to be interested in signing the 21-year-old World Cup winner.

Vasilyev, who saw his Monaco side beat PSG 3-2 on Friday night despite Mbappe giving the visitors a two-goal lead, claims that anything could happen in the Frenchman’s transfer saga but the forward is currently thinking about leaving.

The Monaco president told Telefoot: ‘He is going to have to make very important decisions, and right now he seems more headed towards a way out.

‘Nothing is impossible. Kylian is young and what he wants to win are titles. He is ambitious. He wants to win everything and break all the records.

‘If tomorrow PSG propose an ambitious project, where he feels comfortable and with options to go further and guarantees that he can win everything in his career, he could renew.’

Mbappe’s brace against former club Monaco on Friday night was his eighth and ninth goal of the current Ligue 1 campaign in just seven matches for PSG this season.

The Frenchman came through the ranks at Monaco before his £160million move to PSG

However, Thomas Tuchel’s side were denied three points as a double from Kevin Volland and a Cesc Fabregas penalty turned the game on its head.

It was PSG’s third defeat of the Ligue 1 season and throws the top-flight race wide open after Tuchel’s team threatened to run away with the league again after eight straight wins.

Mbappe needs just one more goal to reach a century of goals for the French champions in just over three years and 133 appearances in all competitions.

Mbappe is currently on 99 goals for PSG with Real Madrid and Liverpool monitoring his future

Before joining PSG, Mbappe scored 26 goals in 44 appearances  in his breakthrough season at Monaco in 2016-17, which earned his £160million move to the Parisian club.

The 21-year-old has also enjoyed a positive career at international level, scoring 16 goals in 39 caps for France and was a key part of Les Bleus’ World Cup-winning squad in 2018.
