Neil Warnock and Everton loanee Jarrad Branthwaite pulled apart in confrontation

Neil Warnock and Jarrad Branthwaite had to be kept apart as the Middlesbrough boss raged at the Blackburn star.

Branthwaite was lucky to avoid being sent off as he kicked Boro ace Dael Fry in the face during the Championship clash.

Fry had to be taken off as blood poured from his eye, with Warnock claiming his star came “within a millimetre of losing his eyeball”.

Fry won a header in the Blackburn box with Branthwaite looking to clear, though he mistimed his kick and connected with the Boro man instead.

Many believe the Blackburn man, who is on loan from Everton, should have been sent off and Boro awarded a penalty.

Though it wasn’t to be with Blackburn going on to win the clash and Warnock being left fuming.

He stormed up to Branthwaite at the end of the match, telling the defender: “You should be ashamed of yourself.”

Branthwaite then had to be held back with Warnock continuing his criticism in his post-match interview.

The boss added: “It was a gamechanging incident and when I saw the mess his face was in, I didn’t even bother with the result.

“I don’t think the lad meant to do it but it was endangering the safety of a player. It cannot be any worse than that.

“The doc just said he’s a millimetre from having his eyeball took out.

“We missed out all round – we don’t have a penalty or a sending off and one of our best players is carried off.
