Neil Warnock has ‘D***head 1′ and D***head 2’ saved in his phone after 3am calls

Ex-Stoke City, Burnley and Republic of Ireland striker Jonathan Walters revealed that Neil Warnock used to save prank callers' numbers as ‘d***heads’ on his phone.

Walters, who made 233 Premier League appearances in his career, shared a hilarious story on Twitter about Warnock after he met with the legendary manager when Warnock tried to sign him at QPR.

Warnock, 74, left his role as manager of Huddersfield Town last week as he ended his second spell in charge of the Terriers after returning at the end of last season to complete an extraordinary survival from relegation. The Sheffield-born tactician has left a lasting impression at every club he’s been at and the players he’s managed or interacted with.

One such player was Walters, who revealed on social media Warnock’s hilarious way of dealing with prank callers which he found out when he met the then-QPR gaffer. Walters tweeted: “I was once in Neil Warnock’s office at QPR as he was close to signing me. It was the first time I had ever met him…

“He told me that he was forever getting prank phone calls off random numbers. He would save the numbers as Dickhead1, Dickhead2, Dickhead3…etc so when he got called up at 3am he could answer the phone by saying “Hello Dickhead”.

“I did wonder what he saved my number as in his phone as I didn’t sign for him! He’s the person every opposition team loves to hate but 99% of players that I know that played for him, absolutely loved him!”

After Warnock left Huddersfield last week, the veteran manager refused to retire to the delight of football fans across the country, with him hedging his bets on return to management towards the end of the season. On return to the dugout, he said: "My health is good, I've never felt better! If anything I've got the buzz again. I'm sure when February comes round people will be asking me again.”
