Dozens of Newcastle fans have been snapped wearing Saudi headdresses and fake Sheikh outfits ahead of their Premier League match with Tottenham.

The Magpies were taken over by a Saudi Arabia-backed consortium just over a week ago for around £300million, and the Geordie Nation are intent on enjoying their newfound wealth.

To celebrate their first home game under new ownership, some fans decided to pay tribute to the club's Saudi backers by wearing their own version of traditional Middle Eastern clothing.

Outside St James' Park and around the city, supporters were snapped wearing an array of homemade Saudi fancy dress costumes.

The most popular by far was the Saudi headdress, which was a huge favourite among a number of fans.

Others went one step further with ankle-length thawbs and sunglasses, while at least one person invested in a blow-up camel to celebrate the occasion.

At one point, fans gathered outside the stadium and broke into song, chanting: "We’re the Saudi Mags" and “We’re richer than you."

However, protestors also made their presence felt outside St James' Park.

But the full focus was on the match and celebrations once the game started.

And Callum Wilson's early-headed goal was another dream come true for Magpies supporters.
