Newcastle star Bruno Guimaraes has been tipped to turn down any potential interest from the likes of Barcelona, Liverpool and Chelsea and stay at the club under Eddie Howe. The Brazilian has become an influential member of the Magpies side since his £40million January move from Lyon and has been on the radar of several top clubs across Europe.

Guimaraes has become the heartbeat of a Newcastle team that under Howe is pushing for Champions League football next season. They currently sit in fourth place in the Premier League table, one point clear of Manchester United in fifth.

Due to the Brazil international’s success, he has been rumoured with a move away to Newcastle’s rivals for the European places as well as Real Madrid and Barcelona. However, ex-Tottenham defender Alan Hutton has urged him to stay at St James’ Park.

“He runs games, I think he has really come in and hit the ground running,” Hutton told Football Insider. “He is a fan favourite now, he is a huge part of what Newcastle are doing moving forward. There is a massive draw going to a team like Barcelona. They are well-renowned in football. But if I was him I would want to stay at Newcastle.

“You can see the direction that they are going in, what they are trying to achieve. We are not talking about a team that wants top four, they want to go and challenge for the league. Obviously not this season but in future seasons that is where they see themselves.

“Huge stadium, the manager has done really well, the owners are going to back them and he is a big part of that moving forward. So why wouldn’t he want to be a part of that because the only way they are going is up.“

The London Evening Standard have claimed that Chelsea have expressed an interest in Guimaraes, who Newcastle are set to offer a bumper new contract to in a bid to deter interested sides.

Graham Potter’s side could be in the market for a new midfielder with N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic having questionable injury records and Jorginho’s future looking uncertain, while co-owner and acting sporting director Todd Boehly has not been afraid to splash the cash at Stamford Bridge.

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s midfield concerns have been well documented this season, as Brazilian outlet TNT Sports have claimed that Jurgen Klopp’s side are also one of several clubs interested in signing the 24-year-old. The Reds are in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund and England man Jude Bellingham as well, and Guimaraes could be seen as a Plan B if Bellingham decides to move elsewhere.
