Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo received one of the fastest red cards in football history on Sunday after getting sent off just nine seconds into their Ligue 1 clash against Angers.
Supporters had barely taken their seats inside the Allianz Riviera Stadium when Todibo received the earliest of early baths. Angers took kick-off and got the ball up the pitch immediately with some neat one-touch football.
That allowed Abdallah Sima through in the centre of the pitch, but as the Senegalese forward was bearing down on goal, Todibo completely cleaned him out with a cynical challenge. Although the tackle itself wasn't worthy of a red card, the referee adjudged Todibo to be the last man and gave him his matching orders.

The 22-year-old former Barcelona defender couldn't believe it, and neither could football fans on social media. One person wrote: "Never a red for Todibo."

Someone else added: "I don’t think that’s a red card." As a third user wrote: "The French league is a joke. How’s that a red card for Todibo."
Others simply marvelled at the speed of the sending off. "How can you be red carded just under a minute into the game? Is Todibo insane," questioned one bemused fan. While another commented: "Todibo man, what the f*** is that?"
Unsurprisingly, Todibo's sending off was the fastest in Ligue 1 history. It was also his second red card of the season, having received two yellow cards against Clermont Foot earlier in the season.
Given the task of playing with one man less for 89 minutes, Nice were unable to pick up a result as ex-Tottenham midfielder Nabil Bentaleb scored the winning goal for Angers in the first half.
The visitors also finished the match with 10 men after ex-Southampton winger Sofiane Boufal received his marching orders for two yellow cards. Former Everton and Chelsea man Ross Barkley made his home debut in the 64th minute, but Aaron Ramsey missed out through injury.
