Manchester United will need to submit a third bid for Alex Telles with Porto set to reject a second proposal of around £13.63million.
Porto rejected United’s opening bid for the 27-year-old, which was believed to be between £11m-£12m.
The Brazil international is keen on moving to Old Trafford and has already agreed terms with the club over a five-year deal at the Theatre of Dreams.
Porto value Telles at £18m but the full-back has less than a year to run on his contract at the club and United feel they can sign him for significantly less, particularly given he can sign a pre-contract with the club from January 1st.
United are ready to increase their bid but only through adding a series of achievable add-ons that would take the club’s offer to around £13.6m, according to A Bola.
However, Porto will not accept the bid as they view it as derisory and not nearly close enough to their £18m asking price.
With just five days left in the transfer market, United risk losing out on another full-back following their decision to pull out of a deal for Sergio Reguillon.
The Spaniard was keen on a move to the club but United refused to include a buyback clause in the defender’s contract, which Real Madrid demanded.
That saw the 23-year-old move to Spurs instead and United are left with little choice but to meet Porto’s demands with time running out in the window.
