Manchester United defender Raphael Varane has reportedly sustained a lesion on his ‘femoral bicep’ which will see him be ruled out of all matches prior to the World Cup. However, the France international could be available for the World Cup.
Varane was inconsolable as he left the pitch at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening, fearing that his newly-sustained leg injury would leave him sidelined for the World Cup. Given that the impact with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was not severe and that the player was reduced to tears instantly, many feared the worst.
But recent scan results have sparked positivity in the Red Devils camp. According to Julien Laurens, the former Real Madrid star could return in three to four weeks and is under the impression that his recent MRI results are ‘positive’.
Therefore, although it would be a risk, Varane will be available to represent Les Bleus in Qatar. Didier Deschamps has a plethora of talented central defenders to pick from, though the experience and quality of Varane cannot be understated.
