Manchester United interim boss Ralf Rangnick must “pipe down” following his recent comments about the Carabao Cup, according to former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara. Rangnick claimed this week that the English football authorities should consider scrapping the Carabao Cup for Premier League and Championship sides to ease fixture congestion.
A host of matches have been postponed in the last fortnight due to an increase in positive COVID-19 cases in England.
That has led to many teams having games in hand which will have to be played at a later date.
The Christmas schedule has also come under criticism from the likes of Jurgen Klopp, with some teams playing on Boxing Day and again two days later.
One of Rangnick’s suggestions to ease a fixture pile-up is to make the League Cup purely for lower league sides.

The German said: “England is the only top league that plays two cup competitions. In France they abolished the second one.
“This is something we could speak about and discuss. The League Cup is still kept for the third and fourth division teams to improve the financial situations of those clubs.
“But in a tight calendar with too many games, this is something to speak and discuss.
“The other thing is the FA Cup and the replays. That’s been changed and that’s a good thing. In other countries you never have replays, those are topics we could speak about.”

However, O’Hara is not happy with the suggestion of the United manager.
Rangnick was only appointed as interim boss at Old Trafford last month.
O’Hara says the 63-year-old has no right to suggest such a drastic change after such a short time in the league.
“The fixture pile-up is the fixture pile-up! It hasn’t changed, it is what it is,” he told talkSPORT.
“Who’s this Ralf Rangnick geezer? Who is he?
“He’s been here two minutes and all of a sudden he’s dictating what’s going on and what we should do over here. He needs to get back in his box.
“He’s an interim manager telling us the Carabao Cup is not even worthy.
“He’s got a lot to say for himself, hasn’t he? He needs to pipe down.”
United are set to play their first match in 16 days when they visit Newcastle on Monday.
They then don’t play until three days later when they host Burnley at Old Trafford.
