Roy Keane says Lisandro Martinez is the kind of player you'd "want to be in the trenches with" following the defender's man of the match performance against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Wednesday.
Manchester United have one foot in the EFL Cup final after smashing three past Steve Cooper's side without reply in the first leg of their semi-final clash, with Marcus Rashford, Wout Weghorst and Bruno Fernandes all grabbing goals.
Keane reserved special praise for Martinez after the game, insisting the Argentine had the right sort of "character" to marshal United's back-line.

"He can deal with the ball … he's neat and tidy, he can see a pass [but] he's [also] got pride in his defending," the former United skipper, who was on punditry duty for Sky Sports, said.
"[That's] great to see because a lot of modern defenders now it's about what they do in possession. He wants to defend.
"He looks the right character, the [kind of] lad you'd want to be in the trenches with. We saw it tonight, United were coasting and he still wanted to defend."

Martinez followed Erik ten Hag through the door from Ajax in the summer and, despite concerns about his height, has hit the ground running in the Premier League.
