Savage Fulham fans troll Chelsea over failure to score after spending £232m

Savage Fulham fans chanted “what a waste of money” throughout their hard fought 0-0 draw against Chelsea.

Graham Potter’s mega-money squad was deployed for the first time since they spent £232m in the January transfer window. British record signing Enzo Fernandez was deployed for his home debut three days after signing for the club for £106m, while £86m arrival Mykhaylo Mudryk was also given his first start.

Potter also introduced £35m Noni Madueke and £11m striker David Datro Fofana from the bench, yet the Blues could not penetrate the rock solid Fulham defence. And with the Potter's side producing their second consecutive goalless draw, the Fulham fans could not resist having a dig at their old rivals.

Every time any of the Blues’ new signings made a mistake, the Fulham fans chanted “what a waste of money”. The travelling away fans greeted every misplaced pass with absolute glee while the home fans groaned in frustration.

Marco Silva’s side moved up to sixth position with their valuable point at Stamford Bridge. The Cottagers have taken four points off Chelsea this season having already beaten them at Craven Cottage a matter of weeks ago.

However, considering the intensity and aggression in their performance, Fulham fans may have taken even more joy from this result. Meanwhile, Potter would have learned a lot from his new players.

Five off his eight January arrivals were deployed against Fulham, either from the beginning or the bench. Loan signing Joao Felix will return for the Blues’ away trip to West Ham, having been suspended for the last three matches.

The Portuguese had his new fans drooling with an impressive opening 45 minutes in the reverse fixture against Fulham, but he needlessly got himself sent off with a high tackle soon after Chelsea equalised. Potter will be eager to reintegrate Felix into his first eleven having only scored one goal in his last three matches.

While the Blues have not conceded a goal since January signing Benoit Badiashile was partnered with Thiago Silva, the Blues are struggling to find the back of the net. If they have aspirations of making a late dart for the Champions League places, Potter will need to bed in his new players very, quickly.
