Shola Shoretire has been sent a confidence-boosting message by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after making his senior debut in Manchester United’s win over Newcastle.
Shoretire was sent on for his first Premier League appearance in the 89th minute of Sunday evening’s game, which United won 3-1.
The 17-year-old has long been admired by the Red Devils, becoming the youngest ever player to appear in the UEFA Youth League in 2018 at the age of just 14.
He then scored a hat-trick for United’s Under-23s in a win over Blackburn at the start of February, before signing his first professional contract soon after.
That led to the youngster being promoted to the first-team squad and he is now regularly training with Solskjaer’s senior side.
Shoretire flew out to Turin for United’s Europa League clash with Real Sociedad in midweek, but had to wait until Sunday to make his debut.
And his manager had a kind message for him after the game.
“He’s going to play many games for us if he keeps doing what he's doing, he's training really, he’s a good boy with a good head on him and hopefully he’ll have a really good career for us," Solskjaer told MUTV.
"He is a boy we believe in. We wanted to give him a little taste of it. Of course, the game was not done, still another six or seven minutes but he is a boy we believe in.”
Solskjaer also praised the man Shoretire replaced, Marcus Rashford, who opened the scoring on the half-hour mark.

“Marcus Rashford has been a forward his whole life, he's got quick feet,” he told BBC Radio Five Live.
“The first goal was a great strike after some dummies. He can still learn, he can still be so much better and that's the good thing with our team – there are so many young lads that we can make better.”
